New collaboration will bring affordable health care to more businesses and employees in Nassau and Suffolk counties

NEW YORK; July 29, 2020 – Centivo, a new type of health plan solution that’s built to save 15 percent or more compared to traditional insurance carriers, announced today that it has contracted with Catholic Health Services of Long Island to deliver lower cost, higher quality health care to Metro New York businesses and their employees. Catholic Health Services joins the tailored network Centivo built from the ground up in the Metro New York region, ensuring Centivo members on Long Island have even greater access to care.

“Catholic Health Services of Long Island is dedicated to delivering high-quality care,” said Alan D. Guerci, president and CEO of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. “Our collaboration with Centivo means more Long Island businesses and their employees will have access to some of the finest care in the region, including St. Francis Hospital, which is consistently rated as one of the best hospitals on Long Island by U.S. News & World Report.”

Centivo members will have access to Catholic Health Services’ award-winning care at six acute care hospitals, three nursing homes, a home nursing service, hospice, a community-based agency for individuals with special needs, and an extensive network of physician practices that combine to serve hundreds of thousands of Long Islanders each year.  St. Francis is the only hospital on Long Island with a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and is the first hospital on the Island to be named a Top General Hospital by the Leapfrog Group, earning the most ‘A’s for patient safety in Nassau County.

“Our health care system offers zero guarantee that paying more for care means you get better care. That is the hallmark of a broken system,” said Centivo CEO Ashok Subramanian. “We identified Catholic Health Services of Long Island as a partner that will help us bridge this value gap, and we look forward to working with them to bring lower cost, higher quality health care to more businesses and their employees.”

Centivo is a self-funded health plan solution that allows employers to offer their employees affordable health benefits without sacrificing coverage. Centivo accomplishes this by building local networks with trusted health systems and independent practices from the ground up, then provides employees with a plan option in which they coordinate their care through their selected primary care team in exchange for free primary care and simple, predictable co-pays for all other coordinated, in-network care. Centivo’s easy-to-use plan also ensures a great member experience through clear communications, concierge customer service, and modern, mobile-first technology.

In addition to the Metro New York region, Centivo’s health plan solution is also available to businesses in North Carolina and Florida, and will be expanding to additional markets over time.
